Well that escalated quickly. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anyone here express sentiment remotely equivalent to "you're stupid and deaf for liking stuff that I don't". That's not the ILF I know and frequent. If such sentiment were expressed, I'd think it would be said with a wink and a smirk, not a wrinkled nose and a sneer.

But you'd better recognize the DMM rulz #1

Was a case of not loving Strymon equating to hating on it. While my opnion is subjective as anyone else's, I back it up with the reasons I have for making my choices!

Thank you! This is what I've been saying for awhile. Mob mentality up in here! Shit's not boutique enough or not made from an ILF builder. Give me a fucking break. Gear is gear. People get so weird about shit on the internet. In real life, I wonder if anyone else gives a fuck. haha.

Also, I like Strymon. It's cool if some of you don't. Whatever. Don't buy it. That's cool. You don't have to. If it's not what you want, oh well. Life isn't made for just you and me. :) Plus, I'm pretty sure Strymon knows how to sell shit, they seem to be doing very well.

I for one would love to buy this. If I wasn't broke right now I would. I just got a Blue Sky and that thing is fucking amazing.

I am the least boutique-focused dude I think possible here, I just don't enjoy what I've heard from the Strymon boys thusfar versus price tag. If it had more controls/configurability options, I might be significantly onboard the Deco.

Not afraid of Boss, don't care about where something is made (oppressed gnomes are fine by me!), etc.

I legit just don't get the hype on the sound is all.

Oh brother. Cant we have a mature discussion about stuff without "the naysayers" being misinterpreted as making personal attacks on the users of said stuff? Life is not all fanboys vs haters.
When a group of people assemble and air grievances, gripes and complaints...it commonly leads to better understanding and improvements. Not everything has to be a sugarcoated, rose-tinted slurp-fest.

When I shop around for stuff, and something catches my eye, I first look for the negative user reviews. Not to take as gospel, but to challenge my decisions. It's not like I'm baselessly trashing anyone or anything here. It's cool if you agree with me, it's cool if you don't. It is of no consequence to me. If you don't like what I'm saying then tough titty, that's a you problem. I'm not petitioning for voice of reason or authority on anything here. Disregard my opinion if it bothers you, just don't attempt to argue or censor it...because I will like what I want, unapologetically. :hobbes:

Yeah, there're a lot of pedals that people around here love that I can't stand the sound of. They're not "bad" pedals, they're just not for me.

#nobadpedals

Yep. Most of those pedals though aren't claiming to be something - I mean, let's be real, if I find a DOD pedal from the 90s to sound like ass.....it's not exactly surprising, since they were sometimes (often?) designed to do just that!

In this case, they invite head to head comparison with the things they're copying - not a whole lot different than when folks get on the case of Fender for the amp reissues that look more like the units than have anything resembling them internally (not that I find the reissues to sound bad, but I get why some folks are pissy about it)

Price point plays a lot into it as well. It's simply that if I want to buy something in the Eventide bracket, I expect that level of editability and bulletproofish (even if I don't expect huge customer support, as their audio division has always seemed like an afterthought to their other products).

And I expect it to vaguely sound like the things they're claiming to replicate with extreme fidelity.

Wasn't supposed to be an escalation or sides drawn; I was saying words...

I like this demo in case it's already been shown or not or has or whatever...

While we're on Strymonz, how come the Brigadier isn't as big as the El Cap? I've had a couple of Caps but maybe I'd like to try a Brig.

my guess is that true BBD delay is readily available for decent prices elsewhere in the market

whereas tape machines are cost prohibitive and, until very recently, hard to find new.

Uh. Sorry. I mis-read the thread title. I thought it said "Strymon Digz" :erm: Dyslexia.

In real life people accuse you of plagarism and ILF's SEO convinces them to draw a truce.

Just sayin'.
