That whole "family tree" is equal in my eyes.Mudfuzz wrote:High On Fire & Om = Sleep
Mastodon in recordings> Mastodon live.... anyone else notice how bad the vocals sometimes are live?D.o.S. wrote:That whole "family tree" is equal in my eyes.Mudfuzz wrote:High On Fire & Om = Sleep
And fuck you guys, the first two Mastodon records are beyond fantastic.

Also, I've heard that somewhere out there is a version of Crack the Sky without vocals....I bet that makes for a neato prog record.... just sayin'

eh, just preferences, breh. I like Sleep better than all the other bands said to be > Sleep.WeHuntKings wrote:What the fuck is with all this Sleep hate?
Dude, no controversy there.blooghost wrote: Here's one that could spark some controversy, Neil Young >Dylan.
Idk, Neil Young in his prime is what I prefer, as I just relate to it more. Granted, Neil's stuff (talkin' lyrics here)is more simplistic. But to some, therein lies the appeal. It correlates with his/Crazy Horse's music splendidly. Dylan was more beats-inspired, and thus, more complex lyrically, perhaps even more eloquent. I just have a soft spot for Neil. I love 'em both, but if you're talkin' songwriting, Dylan > Young. If you're talkin' playin' the guitar, it's the other way around.
