Re: The Amazing Beavis Board (built a TP)

Not bad considering it was my first try at something using only a schem (no hand holding put X piece in y slot diagrams)
Everything is kinda bunched togeher so experimenting is a bit hard...I could have spaced it more and used a few jumpers but I figured that would make visualizing it much harder.
A few things I noticed: Volume. Not a lot of it. cranking the vol pot brings me around unity, and much of the range of the knob is somewhere near unity.
Great if you want exact control and don't need a boost , but devi's usually go from off > unity at 9 > ears bleeding at 10-5 so this was weird.
Also it seems very gated at lower intensity, almost like a gz. Maybe my memory is fuzzy but I don't remember the TP being that way.
...and it seems to like being starved. In order to even reach unity I have to use the starve on the beavis around 11oclock. There is a bit less volume when it gets a full 9v.
It's hard to check everything since I went for a clusterfuck layout, I might just redo the whole thing taking up as much space as possible to give me room to tweak/check everything.

about 260ish plus shipping. well worth it.
I built a SM as my first schem build and it was glorious. though I didn't have enough MPSA18s so I used higher gain 2n5088s which made it more compressed and fucked up sounding.

Bumping to say that my first new circuit is nearing the stage where I'm about to build a real prototype, but I really want to give props to the Beavis Board for helping me get this far. It made it SO easy to swap components in and out, and being able to hear how it sounds each time in just a few seconds. Here's some Beavis Board pr0n:

can u buy just the beavis board minus all the components and whatnot? I would love to buy one of the boards but i cant afford 260+ Just having the board itself would be amazing and help me in pedal building, i just cant shell out that much right now

life,
You can buy breadboards for next to nothing, but the Beavis one takes all the time and frustration out of prototyping by providing permanent signal and power jacks, controls, etc. It's worth the money to have something you can just focus on designing with. Not to mention all the cool shwag he includes...
bigchief,
If you can condense that layout down to one board, you can build yourself a giggable pedal with the protobread(

yes i know you can buy bread boards for cheap, but i wanted the beavis board cause of the ease of putting together a circuit and testing it.

You can buy just the board for $109... no components, but there might still be schwag.

So I read these are discontinued, but I want one. How do I get one?

Build one, or have someone build you one. Pretty easy and all the info is available on beavisaudio.
I made this one a while ago...

Here's mine I made - out of pcb board. The copper side is underneath, and is the earth connection to jack sockets and board itself.
I was pleased with the indent bits where you can fix pots for easy turning.

Does this mean I can now sell mine for 600% more than I paid for it... ala TGP?

Sell it with a Klon copy already on the breadboard.
For $6000, at least.
