fuck tha law.
the only problems you might face are with pressing plants who will often REFUSE to press something without paperwork that shows you have been approved to use samples (or so I have read)... I need to read this fair use jizz...
I tend to agree with Negativland's philosophy on sampling shit... in other words: fuck yo copyright, beeeitch... and don't think I would feel any different if it were my work being used in whatever way, either... I mean, of course I wouldn't LIKE it if it were used in some way I didn't approve of, but once it's re-purposed, it's really not mine anymore... and it certainly wouldn't represent me then, either.

what do you use to play your tape loops if you're playing live?

I have an Onkyo Integra TA-2048 that I use to play the loops. It's pretty big, (like, dvd player size) but it's deceptively light. I haven't tried it out live but I imagine I'd use the headphone-out to plug into the P.A. system.
Idk about others, but the 2048 isn't so finnicky about playing them unless the loop is too tight. It'll play the reversed tapes too. But the best part about it is that it'll play them indefinitely. Meaning, it won't stop after it realizes the tape is fucked up, it'll just keep playing the loop forever. I couldn't get this to work in my car or on any handheld cassette tape players I used. I imagine my loop-making skills were just sub-par.
