Awesome to have ILF back. I have been basically off the internet the last couple days because I had nothing to read :wha?:

As for some threads/posts missing, I'm in IT and I can tell you that the backup they were able to get working was probably a few days old. I'd guess around Sunday or Monday or around thereabouts.

Depends on the media. Backups to tape fail ALL the time. Backups to hard drives fail much less often.

Some of you have heard the story, some have no idea.

Two days ago, our host/server had a server meltdown corruption issue and lost every site they had hosted on that server...everyone's hanging tight, just waiting for them to run the restore and move us all to a new server...but then the email to that all of their seven backups (which they advertise and I pay for), for every site they hosted on that server, were all corrupted. They say sorry and it looks like we lost everything. I will work to make sure we're on the most reliable server EVER and that no host/server lets us down again. Thank you all for encouragement, concern, support, etc! You have no idea how much it means.

Thanks everyone!

Its been a crazy couple days...and just now got un-crazy! After the site came back today, it went down again for a bit--first, SharkSpace told me to do all the work myself, change the name servers, run the recovered restore (all of the things I assumed I was paying them for). I did all of that, get the site back, they decide to do me a favor and try to "fix" the site, thus disabling the working site. :facepalm:
