yup, me too, also have the blue but they slip out from between my fingers for some reason...

Lots of vendors drop picks into their boxes as a marketing tool and some are good (and some suck) but when i got one of these fiberboard Lollar Picks and tried it out on my jazzmaster it delivered this gorgeous muffled thick tone (they do need to be broken in because the edges are sharp) and with my acoustic they really affect the tone of the guitar, probably one of the few picks i've used that actually make an improved tonal difference.... OH, and because of the texture of the fiberboard they DON'T slip out of your hand....

because they are getting popular they've started selling them separately in their webstore....

Haha, yeah.... it can get beat up.... I usually have the nail on my index finger pretty long, but it eventually breaks after a while, and then I start getting sore around the cuticle...

The strange thing is, I CAN'T seem to play with a pick... it's incredibly awkward for me because, while I never really learned to play a guitar even "decently", I've had time to play with guitars since I was pretty young, and I never used a pick at those times, so I never used one after getting my own guitars.

Anyway... I don't know jack-shit about gauges. I just find something that says "LIGHT" or "EXTRA LIGHT" gauge... and, from that, whatever is cheapest :



...and then I don't change them until they break!!!

Coooool... I got one of the from the guitarist in Green Milk from the Planet Orange once when they played here.

Same color, too (IDK if they come in different colors, though... he had several at his feet, and they were all blue...)

yep, each thickness is a different color. i have tried most and like the blue ones best!

I also use the purple 1.14 tortex for electric. For acoustic, I like the green dunlop gels, which I think are medium light. I like having more give with the acoustic. For electric, I just found that thicker pick = thicker tone = happier ears.

For guitar:

I also fingerpick maybe 25% of the time.

For bass:

I also fingerpick maybe 40% of the time.

I use correct-gauge strings, by Zachary Guitars, because they are the only strings on the market that are actually the correct tension for guitars (or basses). It's not a matter of preference, everything else is just incorrect.

I really want to try those cool clear V-Picks, anybody use those? You like them, hey Jon? I know they're a little pricey but they last a long time and have a unique sound, or so I hear. Love to try those Lollars too!

Man those rainbow ones are extremely lovely.. I have to find where mine went. I used it so much it's as small as a dime now.

I use these for acoustic playing, sometimes for electric too. They sound awesome, absolutely recommendable.



Golden Gate Mock Turtle Dawg. That's the name of the game. Accentuates your dynamics.



Toirtoise Todd's. I use Jazz heavy and sometimes small triangle heavy. Great to make the overtones shimmer.
