the caps are 100n aka .1uF

if you want more bass maybe mod it, make the input cap like a 10uf and see what happens

How hard would this be to breadboard? I'm a total beginner on that front, so I'd imagine too difficult....

not too tough to breadboard, but id do a couple easier things first (you mean breadboard not perfboard right? either way the advice still applies). id say wizard fountain is maybe a 2 out of 5 in difficulty to make

easier things to try first (in order of ease and simplicity)

-Bazz Fuss
-LPB-1
-Electra Distortion
-Fuzz Face

try breadboarding one or two of those first

Some good advice from letsgocoyote, this article will probably be useful too.

Looking now I see that I meant to say perfboard....Which is harder? Or is it the same but with some soldering involved?

you dont really have to solder for a breadboard, except to sold some wires to jacks and such so you can try the circuit out, but its not permanent. which means you cant really playing it as a pedal.

perfboad involves soldering and is permanent, its difficult to fix a mistake, but you would use it to build a pedal to use.

Ah, I see. I guess I need to read up on perfboarding, and probably start with some simpler stuff.

Thinking of building one of these next so I did up a stripboard layout. If it's cool with Mr Mellowtone himself I can post it here. It's as yet unverified however.

I checked it on Youtube, sounds cool! I think I am going to try this in some time.. :!!!:

So I thank you in advance for posting the schematic.. :!!!:

And thank chutneyfarmer for the layout.. Makes it even more easy

I forgot to add, the transistors may not be facing the correct way so be sure to check the datasheet for your transistor against the schematics. You'd be well off socketing the transistors to be honest!

I always socket transistors, so that wouldn't be a problem :joy:

I dont think your gonna run 3 100m caps in the signal path. thats too much. its gotta be right...right? I'm looking at the original fuzz face schem and there is a 2.2m electro on the input and a 10n cap on the output. your not gonna have 300m. more like 2.21m

the big muff has 6 100n caps inline with the signal for a total of 600n

on the 2n5089 you can substitute 2n5088. the 89 is just higher max operating voltage with everything else the same.
