Technically, all dirt boxes do the same thing... just differently. :omg:

Boss pedals are a troubling spot for me. I love to hate them-- especially new ones. But there are so many tones I love that are made with Boss pedals. I hate buffered bypasses, though. Especially the ones in cheaper mainstream pedals. Buffers totally have their place-- but IMO, that place should be in a standalone box so you can put it where ever you want it.

Correct... or in an effect that is likely to be placed in a certain place of a chain of effects atleast not just, every single pedal.

But there are so many tones I love that are made with Boss pedals.

Yeah that's my stand point, they have some awesome effects out there (you'd think so with the number of pedals they have) but I prefer (because I can) to build them up myself as true bypass which obviously isn't an option to everyone and sometimes not to me with the digital effects.

That all said and done though, while buffers are good in places, I still don't really like the ones in BOSS pedals, one or two can be great in a chain to brighten things up but any more than that and I find them overbearing.

Except you can't have trails on delays or reverbs without a buffered bypass.

I'm having a blast with my old FT2 Dynamic Filter. I put it in the fx loop of m QTron+ and also just as low pass filter after a micropog. I don't know when I absorbed this pedal but its the best thing about bands breaking up. Accidental gear swaps.

I prefer having them not since then any "guitar" "player" can walk into the store and get one. This way you gotta do a lil research to get what ya want. :o

Totally good point, sir. I hadn't thought of that.

... but I still stand by my statement other than in that situation. :erm:

But only the ones that have lost their flavour...that's a highly skilled job -- tasting them all and determining when a new one is needed.
