I just recently started to get into some anime after I ran out of live action stuff to watch. Some of my favs:

Cowboy Bebop
Ergo Proxy
Blood+ (girly I know)

I really dig the sci-fi non-gundam mech story lines. Any suggestions?

How far did you get into Ergo Proxy? I couldn't pay attention once shit started getting weird.
And Blood is great! Don't watch the live action movie though... :facepalm:

Man i bought the box set for boogiepop a million years ago cause it came with cards and two soundtrack cds and like six dvds and a nice ass box for like 30 bux but damn i mean i was just bored to tears by the first dvd and really couldnt bring myself to watch the rest. Im dling gun x sword right now cause i watched an episode and it seemed like a decent trigun derivative so ill report on that once i finish it. Just watched claymore and while i thought there was some potential there it seemed like they spent waaay too much time on fighting and left alot of the characters underdeveloped esp the silver king who was easily one of the most interesting of the series.

But.. that one is soooo funny, how can anyone not like a show where the main character gets his head smashed in with lots of blood every few minutes?

boogiepop, yeah pretty straight forward. Terrible ending, on par with Outlaw Star.
Eva, not quite as straight forward but still pretty easy to follow once you caught the flow.
Just saying that, in comparison, Ergo Prox is pretty tame and normal, not an out-there-anime at all.
Still loved it hardcore.

I finished and will stand behind the Ergo Proxy banner. Through I would have liked to see Vincent kick the crap out of some space men.
