I find filters and fuzzes are super interactive and some like each other, while some don't. Like wahs, for example. My crybaby hates being before a Flying Tomato (oscillation and squelches) but she really makes the colours come alive when sweeping that particular fuzzbox. On the other hand, when placed after my EH Graphic Fuzz, she's basically useless and crappy sounding... When placed in front, I can get some very funky, yet fuzzy wickawahwahs happening.
As for a touch wah, although it's not nearly as versatile as the Q Tron+, the DOD FX25 is surprisingly responsive and has the depth that the Dr Q, et al., lack. If you can find one for cheap (which shouldn't be too hard), I suggest giving it a try.

So you own it then,or haved owned it? Cheap is good. Thanks. I'm assuming the DOD(and I may sound like a total noob) is analog? I'm sure most envelope filters are, except for BOSS,Digitech, etc.

Not cheap, but listen to these:
http://kosta.posterous.com/harmonica-x-moogerfoogers It's a buddy of mine playing harp through the Moog Low Pass envelope and then into a Ring Mod... Will give you an idea of the flavor. All of that Moog stuff is super controllable and awesome. All the tones you want are in there.

Damn,Kosta-do you WANT me to go broke?!?! That sounded awesome! I used to own the mooogerfooger ring mod and enjoyed it for the time I had it. Got to jonesing for some analog delay and traded for a deluxe memory man. The Low Pass sounds AMAZING!. If by some chance,I luck out and find one used for 150.00,I'll pick one up.

Thought you might like that. Heh. I bet you could find one for $175 if you kept an eye peeled. You use
http://www.searchallcraigs.com/ ? Good if you're looking for something specific. The Muff Wiggler board is good hunting ground for Moog stuffs too.

Thanks for the tip. I think I've decided on either the qtron+ or the 2 knob DOD fx25 though. Found a 'tron with a low starting bid. Working on it...

Defintiely! But sounds like you might need an output buffer -- something like the Foxrox retrofit to stop the Hendrix Isle of Wight oscillation?
I have the hardest time using treble boosters with wahs -- I know it can be done, just never managed to get a sound I like with both doing their thing.
Wahs are PitA in general...I still love em, and envelope filters, but they're a PitA. The number of times I've thought John Lee Hooker and BB King have the right idea...guitar->cord->amp. Then of course I throw in a tone bender or a muff, then want a bit of delay, and wouldn't a compressor be good on that part...and it starts all over again

Oh, and blooghost, wasn't this one was it?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0489859451DOD fx25 -- $52.50

Silly nugget! I was talking about the qtron+,but that's got a whole 3 days left and I'll probably get into a fucking bidding war over it and wind up in the hole. However, that one still available? Maybe there's a cheaper one? I saw a circuit bent fx25B too. Oh what to do...
