i think this is his answer to everyone on the forums taking his designs and building their own versions and saving $1000 of dollars in the process.... clearly he got so mad at the peeps who like to build their own stuff he thought he'd attempt to either A) corner that market or B) stick it where the sun don't shine....
and i did hear about all the hoopla behind this thing MONTHS ago and was really seriously expecting something ground breaking and original....
this is vex at his lowest, that's just damn lazy.... sort of like a really lame 80's movie sequel....

I think he's making a mistake launching it with old circuits...
If he launched it with a new module (zvex delay?) they'd sell out pretty quickly.
I like the potential, but I'm not exactly lining up to get one just yet. I'm still curious as to how some of it works.

Your cynicism is probably impenetrable but I can assure you I have no hatred for DIY-ers. On the contrary, I've created a development tool that lets them take their creations onto the stage and on tour. For many years I encouraged hundreds of DIY-ers on diystompboxes.com to start making their own pedals and marketing them. My belief is that the more pedals that exist, the more sounds that exist, the more interest there is in those sounds, and the market becomes bigger and stronger. How you can twist the idea of a device that
helps people develop pedals into "vex at his lowest" and "clearly he got so mad at the peeps who like to build their own stuff" is way beyond my capacity to imagine. It really triggers my psychosis radar.

Not my thing to have a shit ton of knobs, but I don't see how this is a bad product at all. If anything it'd encourage people to build their own effects after seeing what good can come of creating your own sounds.

this vs. beavis board I dunno... obviously this looks more useful as an actual pedal on a pedal board but for prototyping or whatever maybe the bb would be better?

This could be huge if it is embraced by the DIY community...small builders with no exposure have the possibility to see their designs made and sold all over the world.
Personaly, I want to learn a bit as I am a noob of sorts so the beavis things is more up my alley, but if/once I'm any good at building my own stuff I'll be looking into the invento.
You actually get quite a bit of kit for $300 with the invento, it's not instantly apparent, but when you break down what you are getting it's quite a steal.
Oh and amazing job on that other thingy (communicator or something?) that sounds brilliant.
