I've read all the response to this thread carefully.

I own a couple of DBA devices and they work fine and do some unusual things.

I have found them to be extremely friendly and responsive.

I don't get the dislike, but to each his own.

I've thought about buying some items by Dwarfcraft, as they also seem to be inventive and unusual, but just can't get past the idiocy of their demo videos. So there's my blind spot, I guess.

on the topic of DBA: ive only owned an IO and it was a pretty decent OD i thought, really clean sounding and trebly not much bass. i liked it for awhile then moved onto other things. the only DBA pedals that really give me gas are the evil filter (so sad i didnt have the dough when it popped up here ) and the robot.

picked up a Fuzz War from Fuzzhugger.com a while back. great heavy fuzz with versatile tweaks. sensitive controls. mucho volume available. astute readiness for dirty combat.

everything i own by DBA was picked up used for never more than half of list price (except my evil filter). they all of them have absolutely great sounds inside.
i find they work better (for me) on a dirty amp...which i really like for live gigs.

IDK. on teh one hand i really rely on YOUTUBE demos to inform my purchase so a "bad" one could possibly color my judgment but on the other hand there are lots of non-DC demos out there as well that are most certainly not "idiocoracy." aside from teh zany-ness of the DC demos, they do actually display HOW THE PEDAL FUNCTIONS.

to me. DBA is convention w/ a twist. DC is on a whole 'nother level.
