I dunno, they failed even Kurt Cobain's standards.... he had all the electronics replaced and a new body cut for it... For the one time he actually used it.....

I used to own a JagStang a couple of years ago... Bought it for $120, modded the crap out of it (fixed the ugly body, refinished it, new pups, hardtail mod, new pots) and still ended up getting rid of it. Nobody would buy it, so I traded it for a P.O.S. bass guitar which I then turned around and sold in a couple of weeks.

IMO, the only thing that's great about the JagStang is it's neck. Other than that, it's an 'okay' guitar at best.
Gimme a Jag a JM or a Mustang any day.

now that I've been home about a week I've come to the conclusion that single coils love fuzz, not necessarily JUST offsets. My Tele and Strat sound awesome with all my fuzz. HOWEVER, I'm particularly drawn to my jazzmaster...partly because I love the feel and playability, partly because I love its unique sound. Always Offset love from me.

Just didn't want to discount the single coil brethren. I now have no humbucker equipped guitars, but I don't mind...I just don't dig the sound of humbucker + fuzz

I generally don't dig humbuckers, especially high output ones. They just seem too congested and muddy for me. I like them better as they get less output. They get more clarity and I can like some of them alot on clean tones.

I generally only play single coils and they really seem to me, for my tastes, the only pickups that work with fuzz, though there may be exceptions.

As far as humbuckers go I would like to try some underwound Lollar Imperials.

I've got a 70's DiMarzio Super Distortion pup in the bridge of my Jag and it really sounds unbelievable w/fuzz. My Tele is all Esquired-out and fuzz sounds awesome, except thru the bassy postion. My Ibanez Talman has Lipstick pups and they're very brittle sounding under heavy fuzz conditions.

I think both humbuckers and singles can sound awesome, depending on what you're using... but I will concede that low output sounds better than high output when it comes to fuzz.

I love my Jazzmaster's middle position, with my Little Big Muff set to just a tad of gain and a fairly bright tone seting, going through my amps crunch channel with the gain around 3.
Ahhhhhhhh the sexiness.

In fact, my Jazzmaster seems to make everything better. I've owned a LesPaul style guitar and more than my fair share of Strats, and I've never liked overdrive pedals AT ALL
The middle position of my Jazzmaster through ANY overdrive is just plain sexy. End of story.

I think I've owned about five different muff variations, and the Little Big Muff is what's done it for me so far.

I sold my Da Moaf, which is said to be one of the better trianlge muff clone out there, after A/Bing it with LBM. They are basically the same... My favorite now are the ram's head though.
