L & B Spumoni Gardens in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.

Incredible Sicilian PIE (Square, thick, lust-inducing) and signed pictures of the wall from the whole cast of the Sopranos. Beat that!

I've been to some really good pizza places in midtown and the upper east side. They were just place that I wandered into in my travels when I was looking for a cheap meal. I really didn't pay too much attention to the name. I tend to stick with the independents and avoid the chains. NY pizza is one of my favorite things about NYC.

hmmm, let's see.... Uptown there's Delizia, Totonno's and Patsy's..... downtown there's Lombardi's and John's Pizza....Brooklyn definitely have to agree with Grimaldi's..... if anyone ever tells you Ray's Pizza (or any of it's other monikers "Famous, Famous Original, whatever) they are WRONG....

Do you actually put the pizza on the oven rack? I was going to cook a frozen pizza, but it said to put it directly on the oven rack. Am I actually supposed to put the pizza in without a pan? It seems a little absurd to me. If so, how do you get the pizza off of the rack?

I cook frozen pizzas directly on the rack...they taste much better. They stay all mushy and gross in a pan. I usually slide it onto a plate with a spatula or a big knife.

A word on Rays. They opened up a franchise inside of the local Nathans
It wasn't half bad, but it isn't real NYC style.

Another slight rant: Places outside of NYC that claim to have "NYC style" pizza are almost always TERRIBLE.
Not just by NYC standards, but sometimes that shit is worse than elios or digiorno.
