I'd leave the Billy Corgan-wannabe writing alone (but try some isopropanol or denatured/rubbing alcohol rather than acetone/nailpolish remover -- I have a feeling acetone will dissolve the nitro in the guitar's finish and at best make it gummy).

Nice! I know Leiden. I've definitely driven through that area and seen signs and stuff. Never hung out there though.
