v3 is a EH3003 Ram Head in a different jacket -- you'll see those with BC239Cs or occasionally FS36999/2N5133.
And are we running with the unsubstantiated rumour now that Billy Corgan's Big Muff was a v4?
The v4 was IC-based, no transistors. They had boards labelled EH3003, EH3003B, and EH1322 -- mine was a EH3003B. The other two tone bypass v5 IC muffs I have/had were EH3003 (although the board was completely different from the original 3003 board) and EH1322. I think the EH1322 was the most common?

You are correct devnulljp . mine is a EH1322.
I think I´ll contact the EH forum for some advise on mods regarding the tone control.
thanks a lot

When I started the Big Muff project at
http://www.stompunderfoot.com/MUFFS.html I found about 20 different Triangle schematics. This is due to the fact that Mike Matthews used to use whatever they had around and whatever was close enough in value to make the original pedals. I narrowed those down to five different Triangle muffs that would have the most sound difference between them. I did have the five different clips on the site but now I just have the one i think sounds the best. A lot of the older muffs are more consistent. The Ram's Head had about four different schematics not including the Violet Ram's Head.
Here is a link for you from a blog Billy wrote about the Big Muff on Siamese Dream:

Looks like, but you can't tell for sure without looking inside. It could be v3, v4....or something else if it's been modded. EHX were really sloppy about what parts were used where. I had a v4 3003B IC muff that looked just like that on the outside. I also had a v3 that looked the same and an EH1322 that was identical. The pot offset is the thing that suggests it's not a v3, but I've seen those with the knobs redrilled to round shaft or with replacement knobs to compensate for the offset, or with replacement pots even. Even
Ron Nealy says you can't be sure until you look inside. And he's not basing his opinion off one pic of one v4. That guy's seen more EHX gear than the rest of us put together.
Still, it would be cool if it was an IC muff after all...I want to see the board inside.

Hey, thanks for all the great info guys! I finally know what kind of Muff I have. Now I just have to learn how to read schematics and start some mods....
