Pretty much. I’ll have an idea for a music project. If I don’t have the gear for it, I research what I’d need. Then I try to imagine what it would actually be like to use that gear. What kind of results I might get, and see how other people are using it. I imagine how satisfying it is going to be to use. What quirks are going to irritate me. Think about how this gear is going to change my songwriting. How it’s going to make my life easier. How it’s going to improve my sound. By the time I’ve started saving money for this, I’ve already fully imagined how it would be to use the gear and how it looks next to the gear I already own. I might even pull out a tape measure to make it easier to imagine how it would look in the room.

Normally the time scale involved for saving is long enough that I typically get sick of the gimmick I imagined using the gear for, and then decide not to purchase it (or use what I have to get “close enough”).

I did read the tulpa wikipedia, and I’ve never read anything that felt more “chronically online” than the idea of a brony tulpamancer.

Also, I was never a 4chan user, but this forum used to be a wilder place and regardless of the thread it was probably not something you’d want to read at work or on a crowded subway without risking random nudity or obscenities written in giant fonts.

i didn't say it wasn't weird, but it never had that institutionalized shittiness that's such a chan hallmark.

The most 4chan moment in ilf history that I can remember is.. that month DE attempted to trollz on 4chan then come back here post to attempt to brag… the funny part was the 4channers caught on and would bomb thier posts with endless pictures of the tick… causing DE to get infuriated…. I never got the point of why… to either… but It was funny

As to ot…. Nah, I’m the opposite… I don’t think up projects to do… I get ideas that turn into projects over time… sometimes it’s fast sometimes it’s slow.. and I tend to pickup gear only when I think I need to.. and a lot of times I first attempt make something not made to do the thing work… like one time I used a double bass as a tanpura wich ended up in a couple newage/worldy songs.. funnily I now own a tanpura that I never use
