Forgot Super Fuzz mode 2 is pretty much Electric Wizard in a box until firing it up upon arrival last week. The plastic chassis texture is definitely lego-like, but seems sturdier than earlier units that came in action-figure-style packaging.

Yea, mode 2 is where it's at on the thing.

I've run my HM-300 into the ground and it's held up.

It reminds me of the cheap plastic Dano pedals that I thought would die but...don't.

Or the metal Fab Tone that I questioned the knobs when I bought it NEW for full MSRP when it came out in '95 or '96 and it still works after touring with it for half a decade and much abuse since.

I have never played a real hyper fuzz but spent some time with it on a breadboard build last year. I hadn't messed with the boost on that circuit, but I have to say the boost on this thing is awesome! I like it better than the other modes.

Is that the in-between fuzz mode where you get the scooped and non scooped fuzz at the same time. I haven't tried that yet on this as I forgot about that feature but I did a few super fuzz variant builds in the past where I would have the scooped option on a switch and the scooped and non scooped fuzzes together as the other option. The one thing I never like about the super fuzz and it's variants is when playing in the scooped setting when you switch to the non scooped setting it always sounds so muffled and shitty because your ears are toast. I think blending the two sounds much better but I also love scooped sludge fuzz. On a Bee Baa I build years ago I combined both of the settings sounds so much better to me.

I never played an OG HM-2, built a couple of clones and thought they sounded just ok. I liked both of them in series though. How close does the behringer sound to the HM-2?

The Behringer is VERY close to my MIJ HM-2.

It's crisper, in a good way - they get the same range though and I'm happy with either.

For < $25, VERY happy.
