It was unnecessarily douchy, I don't understand what makes Rose's playing horrible, he flubbed a couple of notes, so what? And I assume by your comment that you feel you are much better in comparison.

Well, sometimes when you work your ass off and everyone is giving generally empty comments, a good kick in the pants or a "you suck" can be what you need to start thinking "what can be changed? What can be done differently? Where should I go from here?" I mean, sure it is a bit rude to go all the way to say "everything about it sucks" but tone can always be different to the listener, so it's always good to try something new (even if you think you found your "perfect tone"). Record the settings, don't use it for a few days, then try those settings and see if it really is your tone. If it is, rock it. If it isn't, keep trying!

Just my two bits.

I'll just say that think people were put off by your claim to have the "greatest tone known to man".
Made in jest or not, that claim is a sure way to tank any thread on any guitar forum.
Cool clip though.

I'd just like to point out the astonishing feat roseweave accomplished in that thread...

People are agreeing with rushfan. My mind is blown.

On stoopid grounds though(tone being objective). I'm making some pretty good arguments, really.

LR.
The problem with this entire post is the fact that ;
1. You won't believe anything anyone says to you unless it's complimentary
2. You have no ability to learn how to get better tone since you are convinced that you have perfect tone now.

Is everyone who has posted here wrong and only you are right?

Do you think you play well? er...well enough to post clips?

Sorry man but this isn't just a matter of tone. It's a matter of experience.
Get more before you post clips again or your gonna get bashed all over again.

I normally would not say anything in these situations, but your attitude compelled me to. Get this "I don't need to listen to you attitude" out of your head and start listening. You might actually improve if you do.

I said MY quest for tone was over(jokingly, since of course the whole point is that there's no "one" best tone). I didn't say my quest to find a tone that pleased HCFX was over, since it never began.

Your experience is bullshit, that's the whole point of the thread. The problem here is that the collective mentality of HCFX is unable to accept it's "advice" is irrelevant since I'm not looking to improve tone. I could improve improve my micing and playing certainly, but it won't change the base guitar tone you're taking issue to here that I really like.

If I wanna make some noise, I wanna make some noise. I don't need to "improve" the noise I make according to your standards. Music might not be entirely subjective, in terms of it being possible to fail at what it sets out to do, but with my tone I've posted here, I've succeeded at what I want to do.

It's not pretending to be anything else. I wanted a fucking awesome, nasty, torn speaker/glitch kind of sound, and that's what I got. You don't like it. Chances are, you're a bit of a tone elitist, so I don't really care what you think past it annoying me how preleveant your attitude is. That bit does concern me quite a bit, since I believe it's hurting modern music in general.

It's actually you and the rest that need to learn, or at least listen. What do you mean by "Improve" any? Where did I express a desire to "Improve"? I'm quite sure the original topic line said otherwise. Guitarists often assume their "advice" is welcome where it really isn't. Even if I did want to "improve" my tone, I'd do it on my own terms.

Even though this was a Devi pedal in the recording, I think maybe this should be moved out at this stage, I get the feeling she'll get annoyed/embarassed.

Have you personally ever been to a bar and just happened to be there on a night when a "new" band decides to launch itself onto the world - yet haven't really practiced enough to really do such a thing?

Well, that's what I heard. Someone playing a guitar to show a fuzz effect, but couldn't really get his point across (about the supposedly jesting "perfect tone") because the guitar playing got in the way. It's particularily imparitive if one is going to post like he did - even if in jest - to be pretty good at what is about to be shown. He's not and it wasn't. I don't think that anybody that listened to the audio clip came away with "wow, that was some kick ass playing through an awesome DE pedal." Rather, as you have seen, just the exact opposite occured.

Besides, you should know what happens when you assume....I don't play guitar. Have never professed to play one nor have I acted in any way like I do. That fact, however, does not in any way, shape, or form preclude me from being able to comment on somebody elses guitar playing ability, or lack thereof. One's taste in music aside, there aren't too many people that wouldn't say he needs to practice much more before he decides to next time show off certain fuzz pedal nuances.

If one is brave enough to post guitar playing like that, be man enough to take the heat when people post that it's pretty clear you haven't been playing for long. Unfortunatly, not everything is t-ball, and everybody doesn't get a trophy at the end of the day. Please stop overdramatizing as if one realtiy based comment is going to send somebody into a tailspin they will never recover from.

And "douchy?" Were you in the drama program at your school? :poke:

1. If someone makes a post demoing a certain tone, I'm not going to critique their playing, I'm going to critique their tone.

2. It was obviously posted expecting a shitstorm of people criticizing it. This is not the first time Rose has thrown out some troll-bait to HCFX.

3. Regardless of the truth or falsehood of anything you said, busting that hard on the playing of a well-liked regular of this forum is kinda fucked up. I haven't loved every single song posted in the Music forum, but I don't go in there and slay into them for having the audacitiy to post a song I don't like.

I Jizz'd

Seems like this forum generally has a little more tact than HCFX. It seems fine to be critical, but I don't think we need a Simon Cowell.

Posting "troll-bait" puts one exactly how many steps above a troll??

Actually, I didn't "bust hard" on anybody, let alone the troll-baiter. I said his playing sucks. It does. He has even admitted as much on this forum:

Roseweave wrote:...I know I'm not a very good guitarist either way...

...so there's nothing "fucked up" about what I wrote.

Your treatment of my response with a total red herring about stuff in the Music forum is somewhat unbelievable. I certainly didn't "slay" anybody for music that I didn't like. I said that while the fuzz may be alright, the guitar playing took away from whatever it was he was trying to show - which we now know to be a complete BS post just to elicit "mean" responses. It's not that I didn't like his "tone," it's just that his guitar playing left/leaves much to be desired. Plus, nobody here posts stuff (that I'm aware of anyway) just to elicit some type of hate response out of the readers.

Interestingly enough, how many posts now has he linked back to on HCFX where he is trying to elicit some type of placating here on this forum by showing just how "mean" they are over at HCFX?? And this is the "well-liked regular" that you speak of? Posting "troll-bait" on another forum? Come on...
