Re: octave up and down pedal for bass?

putting one into the other will make the tracking tough. so i'd split the input signal to both, then mix them on the output. should be doable by adding a dual opamp on a perfboard (ask around on diystompboxes and i bet you can get some good answers).

but if you want to keep things simple, i'd probably put the octave down first since it seems to be more sensitive.

my brother in law is good at this stuff n said he'd help me build a pedal so imma just bring this shit up to him n see what he makes of it hah

just for my own curiosity though I've only heard of an opamp in like a boost pedal situation so what would the double opamp be doin in this context

double opamp is just two opamps in a single chip. most pedals with opamps actually use that kind of chip, including the tubescreamer. often opamps are used in a way that inverts the signal, so having a second is often useful just to invert the signal back to its original phase.

^this

but it seems you're set on both pedals - why not just put each in a separate channel of an LS-2 for example?

I was hoping to only have one pedal to lug around instead of 3 hah

I have been thinking of getting some kinda sunn beta preamp so I could put them into two different channels if I did that

Madbean made pcbs for a Pearl Octaver clone. I don't think those are available anymore, but might get you moving in the right direction for DIY.

For some reason, my phone would let me copy the link, but DelykPCB still has PCBs for it. It's called "Up, Down, Daddy!" and it looks super busy, but it fits in a 1590B. :thumb:

octave optimization tip, kids - whatever octave you end up getting, grab one of these:

proper octave vent removal can tighten your octave game just in time for your entry into the Octavarium - grod speed and good luck, gladiators!

also, have yer pedal-makin' b-i-l chack this thing out:

made the mistake of selling mine on when i got married :(  and am living in a forever inadequate octaverse now

also check out this Andydemo - while lacking in sufficient quantities of kayzerliness, it does make up for it by flashing dimmed out views of the circuit board for inspirational enhancement :snax:

or, idk, you can probs source a layout somwehere online :idk:
