the Joyo Ultimate Overdrive is a good sounding OCD clone. hideous graphics, but that's what sandpaper & spraypaint is for!

I came to the second page looking for this. Also second all the BOSS recs / clones thereof. Buy the $22 DS-1 and rockfcknoise wrote:Also why not buy a rat? Have you thought about that? Rats own

I got a Caline Blue Sky recently. Basically a Timmy clone for 30 bucks and the first overdrive in 20 years that kicked my BD-2 off the board. It's excellent.

Not really usable for chord work as Eivind August wants. At least I cannot recommend it for that (if at all, because I haven't had a DS-1 that I liked).coldbrightsunlight wrote:Buy the $22 DS-1 and rock

Ey, loads of good recs in here. Thanks, fam!
While I technically could go for something more fancy like the Mini or Double Rock, this is such a boring purchase from a practical standpoint that I'd rather just buy something cheap and easily available/flipable.
Rats are an interesting suggestion that I'll look into. Had the Mooer Black Secret, which was cool except for the tiny size. Which also applies to the other mini-pedal-recs (though I will check them out). The Boss-love is also reassuring. Will have a look into the 250/Distortion+ variety as well. Guess I have a day of boring TGP demos ahead of me.

Rats are pretty mid-forward when on low gain. Which is fine for a general rock sound, but it can get a bit much.fcknoise wrote:Also why not buy a rat? Have you thought about that? Rats own
Eivind why are you ignoring the Oneder Drive suggestion? It does exactly what you want, is priced good, homie who makes em is nice. Gets pretty blown out on max gain.

Low gain overdrives exist in abundance, just get whichever looks good with the AD-9 your fool. This is now a purple OD thread

Re: Ugh, what's a good, cheap overdrive pedal?
Another (scandinavian) rec for the BD-2 here. I've a keeley modded one I've had for ages and love, used for a gazillion of projects I've been in. Can't go wrong with a stock one either though imo. Good for so much. I've played almost everything but blues (or any kind of solo really, but lots of chords/riffs/texture stuff with different amps and guitars) with it and though not the best for some stuff, it's never bad and tbh really good for a lot.ognoy wrote:This!
