so, last week i decided to just say no to some persistent recs that were annoying me
in response youtube pared down all my recs to gear, rare albums, music theory and comedy skits
it stayed that way for days
i was sad
i felt really shallow
then i watched a cutesy australian magpie video someone sent me
youtube buried me in cutesy animal vids
did i rejoice? not exactly
but, this morning, youtube gave me these:

Apparently Youtube thinks I like stop motion animation DIY tutorials??? Which admittedly after watching it... I think I now do... which is a pretty weird thing to suggest to me!



I keep being recommended the magnificent storyteller film and the blue clay film... haven't watched either and have no intention of doing so.

Has anyone/everyone else seen their search engine go completely off-the-tracks in the past few days?

Ex: you search for 'generative sequencer Ableton Live' and you get 4 Ableton hits and then 20 basketball videos.

Just because I watched highlights of a game yesterday doesn't mean I want to watch 20 fucking basketball videos right now. I already told the search engine what I currently wanted to watch, and Google's like, "Fuck you, you need basketball!"

No matter what I type in, they spam my feed with shit that I didn't ask for, and I have to scroll and scroll to get past the clutter and back to the stuff I just asked for. That really pisses me off.

i feel like it has been like that for years. i feel lucky if i get search results. mostly its "blogs" that mines ad revenue

that's weird re: the search engine
i get mixed results sometimes, but nothing like that
my thing is more with the recs on the home page or on individual video pages

gotta say, i'm in the bring on the stop motion tutorials camp, but barbecue life seems like too much pressure for me
