Chankgeez wrote:Good. It's always best to experiment with placement, amount of gain, EQ and stuff like that.

That being said, I have my Klon/e placed at the very end of my chain as an almost always on (mostly clean) boost. Really the only time I'd switch it off is if I've got a fuzz on and it's takin' the edge off of the fuzz.
So far I'm enjoying it most:

1. Front of the chain boosting other fuzz pedals on a bright low gain setting, something about the EQ of it really makes other distortion sound good - adding brightness/reducing bass
2. direct/end of chain into an amp with a preamp that breaks up a bit - kinda similar to the above really. It just sounds fantastic boosting stuff.

It is... a unique flavour into a super clean amp on its own but I don't really like it like that.

Sadly my tube amp is a bit dead and needs a tech so I can't yet experiment with pushing that at actual volumes where I'm sure it will be stellar, but loving it just for the home stuff I can do anyway.

I've played a Klon into a solid state amp before. It still kinda does its thing. Just not nearly as well. :idk:

hahaha into my Quilter it sounds fantastic. Which I assume is because the preamp in that distorts quite nicely - kinda responds like a dirt pedal/tube amp turned up. Into my H/H uber clean solid state it sounds... very meh  That said klon -> other stuff -> HH is still excellent

I’ve played my Golden Horse a fair bit and it is a bloody good pedal. Far better quality than anything should have in its price range, even has 1n34 germanium diodes. Sounds killer. Really nice as a low gain od, or for smashing other pedals. But it sounds pretty good through the whole gain range tbh.
