^^ I was going to say something similar, it's kind of an amazing time to be into guitars. It's hard to buy something TRULY awful from most mainstream brands, and the value:dollar scale feels pretty logarithmic at times. Huge jump from a $99 guitar that comes in a box with a 5w amp to a $250 squier; the differences between a $2000 and $4000 guitar are a lot more subtle.
I think ESP guitars are pretty cool, and if I was looking for a $400 ripper I'd buy an LTD Viper.

I love cheap guitars.. and I've gotten some good ones cheap. I don't agree with all yooz on squires... I don't hate the things but they always fall into the "well that is passible" category for me.. For me the best buckbangings are 90's korean things by Epiphone, Ibanez and Jackson.. I also remember the Deans from then being pretty cool...

On the other Hand I don't like below mid level basses as they feel cheap and usually have crappy pickups..

I was in the same dilemma - was thinking I wanted a shredder guitar with a Floyd Rose - was thinking Jackson or Charvel mostly. Then I got a little more real, dealing with FR could be a PITA so I stopped looking at some of the killer shred guitars that have been suggested.
I ended up spending more money on both guitar and amp than I thought I would but god damn, I haven't played my bass or synths in the past 3 weeks since I got this my EBMM and Orange guitar rig - it sounds amazing and plays so well - I sound better than I actually am and IDK I feel like I am playing better than my skillset for guitar has ever been in my whole life. No regrets.

Great news Delta!
Yeah man, hardtails for life. I mean, I fucking love divebombs. I play a lot of Dimebags stuff, Slayer etc. But I just can't deal with floyds. So I do it all on hardtails and live with not getting my divebombs on. But grabbing a pinch harmonic and bending or prebending 1.5 - 2 steps is not a bad work around. A bit of delay and some silly vibrato and you can at least get something that functionally does something similar.
But yeah... no divebombs.

I think for shreds metal here’s the idea grouping of instruments:
Lead guitar player plays something sick like a vintage BC Rich they clearly purchased on Reverb for a large sum of money into a vintage JCM800. Very invested in the bands look and thinks the rhythm guitar player should be trying harder.
Rhythm guitar plays a newer Jackson or something totally not fitting like a Strat. May have one of those Kustom amps with the padding. Or maybe uses an amp modeller.
Bass player uses a really sick 6 string into a solid state head. Ideally a full size and not like a tiny Markbass head on top of an 810. That looks weird. Also may be the really out of place black metal guy.

hahaha,
Did even more research last night - I was looking at Solar Guitars because I am a huge fan of Ola England. The back stock stuff looks rad and the price is pretty reasonable too - they have a pink shredder that I would play the fuck out of.

You say you're into your Music Man and they make guitars, too. I bet the St. Vincent would make a great metal guitar. They have cheaper versions as Sterling.

I love the look of the St Vincent - thought about it several times.

I fucking love when metal guitars have hot neon pink or crazy neon green on them. Especially the Ibanez guitars with the neon green pickups. I’d fuck with a 7/8 string like that so hard.

Haha that thing is cool. I was looking at Solars too this year. Didn't end up grabbing or trying one but... intrigued.
