Re: Help a sista out
I was hoping this wasn't the case, either, but Eric Merrow (the channel in question) is a good egg, and it's due to the mode selector being a slider instead of a pot - you basically toggle the position between Fuzz 1 and Fuzz 2, and that's the SECRET mode!retinal orbita wrote:However I am looking forward to watching that Behringer Super Fuzz secret mode video tomorrow. What’s the secret? I have to know! (It’s probably boost mode)

Re: Help a sista out
I'd say something pitch related, or maybe get a dedicated pedal for your favourite mode on the bitquest to free it up to do something else?

He has a subforum in the sharktank here. His brand is called The Out Sound, but all of his pedal say Laowiz on them, so it's kind of confusingYadig wrote:Where do you guys buy the laowiz stuff?

Re: Help a sista out
What are you using the Bitquest for and what would you be doing with it if that sound were otherwise covered?
On dirt flavors: MAE Maybe? is a fun dual fuzz that may or may not fit. Dropping Acid #rip is awesome and flexible and can probably find plenty of ways to complement your Fuck in the drive-to-fuzz-with-momentary-crazy zone. El Diablo HEQ is so over-the-top that it can do a very blown-out over-saturated thing. Carcosa is cheap and great—not the most exotic or extreme but does a lot. Spiral Electric FX pedals take that Carcosa ball and make it better. I know I want a Stomping Stones Virus but I just know that I like the demos.

Fuzzrocious Grey Stache ?
It's a big muff type fuzz so nothing too unusual, but it's got a mids control and you can have different mods put in the second switch, like tone bypass, oscillation, octave, etc.
I guess it depends maybe on what you want the fuzz to do....is it a mids-forward base tone to push your other pedals, or something crazy to blow up the rest of your signal?
MAE / EAE Eldritch Blast? Those seem few and far between these days but it looks like there's a new batch on the way.

Re: Help a sista out
I use the bitquest for it's delay, reverb, bitcrusher, and ring mod mostly. I break out the flanger for one song but my bandmates think it sounds a bit cheesy. I agree.
I think something glitch would be pretty neat, too. That stuff can get out of my price range pretty quick. Thanks for the laowiz tip. I had no idea how to find any of his stuff.

Re: Help a sista out
Maybe you need a stand-alone flanger? Flangers are capable of a plethora of non-cheesy sounds. Very versatile.Yadig wrote:I break out the flanger for one song but my bandmates think it sounds a bit cheesy. I agree.

Maybe check out the Fuzzhugger Sonic Shroom (previously called the AB Synth)? Unique fuzz flavour with oscillation on a footswitch. The Dwarfcraft She Fuzz / Shiva is another fun one, more harsh.
Do not get a flanger.

Virus fuzz is best fuzzzYadig wrote:Oh man.... I'm really loving the stomping stones virus. I think that one is something special. The richocet would be a possibility for my second pedal. I'm not sure where I'll be going with that one because like I said, option overload with lots of builders making beautiful things right now.
I love mine

Yeah, I'm not interested in a flanger at all. It all sounds bad to my ears.

Ibanez PM7 Phase Modulator. nice crunchy analog-ish sound, excellent basic phaser plus batshit crazy additional modes. seriously, this thing is nuts.
