IDK why it didn't occur to me before haha
Pretty sure that the Algal/Doom Blooms are an original design.

Same here, don't like muffs with more than 3 controls. They should get it right straight from work bench, I can easily switch guitars or songs or even styles of playing without feeling the irresitsable urge to tweak a "focus" control that "rolls of bass in the front end of the circuit". That's all just gimmicky marketing bullshit imo.

To each their own ofcourse, who am I to say what's cools and what's not :idk:

Anyway, I went through a whole bunch of muffs...Swollen Pickle, Vintage EHX muffs, Musket, BAT LSTR, '70s Maxon, and a couple more I don't remember at the moment...
They all had their pros/cons. Wanted a Fuzz War, but it cost more than what I wanted to spend. Now rocking an IC muff reissue, with the tone circuit always off. Nothing spectacular, it's as straight forward as muffs get. But depending what and how much dirt I put before/after it, it can do whatever I want from it. Booteek shmooteek :p

Badascan is lit. Pharoah is lit. LSTR is lit. Supercollider is lit.

Vidret linked me to a really fun video shootout of a ton of Black Arts pedals, might be useful to explore the various flavours of muff that you enjoy.
good deals are here.

So it would seem what I'm really looking for is either a Musket, Blunderbuss, or SC. This is why I love this place, I get a silly idea, and the wealth of knowledge points me in a good direction hahaha I boost my Russian RI with an SD1 occasionally, I probably should have mentioned that. I have it before the Muff and have everything off except volume all the way up. I think I'm doing the boost thing correctly but not entirely sure lmao
