Regarding Amy: yes! She changed my musical life. For real. She must've got married and changed her name or something. Or disappeared from the internet. Or I just suck at google. I would actually like to really thank her - it's 19 years ago since that car ride and it's etched into my memory and into how I approach music.Dandolin wrote:Amy, if you're stalking, thanks for keeping your priorities straight.
Also, Big G, what is it with you and timelines?
And timelines... I think I really like telling stories chronologically. It annoys the living shit out of my wife who is more interested in like... telling the story. I don't really care, as long as I have the chronology sorted out.

Were
Djent is pretty bad, for sure. I’d have to think but I don’t think I really listen to any band that has gone down the Shugg-hole. Though yeah, they did change all metal, so there’s that.
I did quite like the new album from Intercepting Pattern. But I mostly liked the drumming and (wait for it) the synth pads. Super holdsworth style. Also it’s not really djent, it’s just pure old Meshuggah worship with jazzier drumming and more holdsworth and outer space.

I think there is good shugg-core out there. You gotta dig around a little.

I tend to avoid everything djent because every time it just sounds either overcomplicated parts or two-notes riffs on the lowest notes possible while the drummer goes "chah chah chah chah" in 4/4 on a China or a Splash adding some snare here and there.
I know it's over simplicistic but that's the feeling I get.

Anyway I've been spinning Nothing on my way to/from the office since yesterday morning and I'm totally ok with that.

this album is making my morning, actually

tbh, i'd like something a little more midway between this and DEI
