I was avoiding going too fangirl  if I started listing everything I think is great it would get too long a list and I wanted to present a manageable list of things to check out

I don’t love all Neil Young even though I’m Canadian (my Neil Young story is that my best friends dad owned a coffee shop and rented the apartment upstairs to NY for a year while he was trying to “make it” - all Canadians have a NY story) but On The Beach is a serious contender for too 5 of his records. I never got too into Tonight’s The Night myself.

I struggle with the amount of archival works being unearthed as well. Hard to know what’s worth it so typically I just spotify.

Also that new “unreleased” album is awful!!

Haha there's a few good tracks (which had all already made it out into the world) but the thing as a whole is not great.

Living With War is a modern(-ish) masterpiece. JS.

Turns out this album directly inspired Sola Sound to build an overdriver that sounds like someone has thrown your tone in the rubbish.

And thats how we got the Tonebinder

I would be confused by a person who likes After The Gold Rush and none of the other stuff I listed though. So IDK if it's really a take that agreed with your premise :p

As long as it’s not your take it’s probably good.

I've only actually listened to After the Gold Rush, Harvest, Harvest Moon, Rust Never Sleeps, Dead Man, Colorado and Trans.
I didn't realize James Taylor was involved with Harvest. Now I'm even more suspicious...

some interesting choices there amongst the classics

Well if you liked rust never sleeps and after the gold rush, the others I mentioned should be good. Top electric jams. Not that I'm here to convert anyone I just dislike goroth's initial bad take (which is really a pretty lukewarm take)

My Neil Young story is that Neil Young rented a vintage car from my grandmother and her partner (Merv). Neil drove the car with Merv from Bowmanville where we live to Massey Hall in Toronto. They talked cars all the way there and he suspected that the car might have a small exhaust leak.

Also, On the Beach is the best Neil Young album

On The Beach is so good. Amazing stuff. For me it's tied between that or Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere for the best one.
