I have a few metal ones and a few plastic ones. The plastic ones look tacky in comparison but are a bit better functionally for one specific reason. A few of my pedals have the LEDs right next to the foot switch. From certain angles the metal toppers obscure the LEDs, especially on a dark stage with lots of fog. The transparent plastic ones light up a bit with the LED underneath so I can tell what's going on. Anyway, I use both kinds I just have to be strategic about which pedals get which ones.

Sooo, funny enough I do not like them anymore. I know right? I fucking etched the crap out of them and sold hundreds (I sold like 500). However, I've been playing without a board or anything except the floor, my pedals that I choose and my guitar. I just don't need any more precision than what I have. On top of that, the added stress to your switch will eventually cause issues. I don't know how long, but it will. Couple that with the angle at which you are applying pressure (typically it's a certain amount of degrees based on your board) and you have a recipe for disaster.

That being said, I hand them out in trades and I may even have a few ILF ones still here. Maybe. I have to look. Right now, I'm not using them at all.

I’ve got a few I use to make sure I don’t accidentally kick knobs, or to make a switch taller if there is a tall pedal in front of it.

I think they look ugly as hell, and the set screws are annoying. If I’d get rid of them if I could.

I'm thinking of either going for pedal risers (or just a slab of wood) to make the 2nd row better accessible or the switch topper things. Maybe putting something underneath the pedal is better than making the footswitch taller? :idk:

the toppers dont make the footswitch taller as much as make the footswitch button wider

You can get the tallboys, which are really tall.
Obviously.

Slab of wood works for me.

Look at my avatar. Do you think I'd want a stupid bike helmet covering this beautiful, sleek, ICONIC protrusion? No sir, I would not. Just seems wrong and inhuman.

Bagels work really well. Very soft actuations.

When considering going the barefoot route with jelly donuts, don't forget to think about your ankles!

I'm not going to argue that the footswitch buttons are stupid. I will however argue that they help a lot in a live situation. With that tall one I don't have to worry about bumping any knobs or switches - I can throw my foot in the general direction and it'll all turn out ok. Which in turn increases my ability to headbang and flail about on stage. So I'm not a fan of the buttons, but I'm a fan of flailing. Which makes it a no brainer for me.

Pedal risers are also good for getting the switch height up and they don't make you look like a wanker, but they don't solve the accidentally-mash-dpdts-and-knobs problem.

Maybe if you didn't play "technical" music with "skill" and "timing" and "musicianship" you could look cool instead of using nerd buttons
