I know.. you want a bass. here you go, 420 year old bass [plus ton of repairs because that's how it is.. violin family instruments are made to break and be fixed over and over again]

Wood can be fixed, replaced, by hand. A double bass with could last even if we ended up back in the stone age with a bid of elbow grease

Very true. If we're allowing for repairs I wood probably bet on my double bass. Or just find some wire and a 3020 broom handle and get my wash tub bass on
