I watched some videos, and I couldn’t follow some of it. Feels like you have to have created it / be the Empress guy to fully grok it. (Edit: and I’m a software engineer, complicated obscure things are my daily job LOL.)

What I did in the beginning was grab some presets from the Patch Storage share site and tweak when necessary but eventually I wanted to fully create custom stuff for my needs.
I achieved this by watching hours sand hours of demos and reading the manual over and over but like I said, that's when I quit. It's a beautiful device and they did a great job but I wanna' play not think, ya' know?

I had the opposite experience. I watched a video, and I’ve opened the manual a handful of times. Other than that I’ve just muddled my way through. The biggest trouble I have is keeping track of settings in a patch. The only global feedback you get is led brightness. So, if you’re trying to edit an existing patch it can take a long time to figure out what’s going on.

I do best when I start from scratch. I haven’t had much trouble making simple patches or even patching up basic synth stuff. When I struggle is when I have to figure out what nonsense I patched up previously.

What about a Molecular Disrupter, if I can find one? That was Skully’s suggestion elsewhere.

Super fantastic, unbelievable device. Highly recommended.

There's also a compact one, the Molecular Compactor, but he doesn't make them anymore and they come up less often.
(I don't think he made many because they're a PITA to produce)

If you go that way let me know. I lent mine to a friend yesterday but if he doesn't keep it I was gonna' put it up on Reverb
which I'd rather not do.

CBA's Warped Vinyl can do a trem and other modulation, and people who own the Tremotron seem to love it

If you want to write your own waveforms like the Hollow Earth, the Lighning Wave Ghost can do that. If you want something that rhythmic and weird, the Alexander Colour Theory is worth consideration.

If i needed a custom waveform tremelo, I’d get the Lightning Wave Ghost. I might be mistaken, but it seems like Jwar had one at some point?

I spent twenty minutes last night patching up a custom wave-form tremolo on the Zoia. I used an lfo to drive a sequencer that was adusting a vca, and I used a slew limiter to smooth out the sequenced steps. It worked but it would’ve been a pain in the ass to use with a band, if I needed to create different waveforms quickly, or if I needed to change or match tempo with anyone. There’s probably a better way to do that, that was just the first method I tried.

I have the Ghost that used to be Jwar's. It seems like they're working on a new version with a screen, which looks like a lot of fun.

Is that Trem alone or is it a trem effect on the chorus repeats? If so, how do you set it up? I’m curious, and I didn’t find something suitably tremolo-focused in any demos of any of the various Warped Vinyl versions that I’ve seen.

It's set up via a dipswitch on the back, first one on the left is 'volume', so you just turn that and 'bounce' on, then the ramp knob controls the speed/depth. I'm not completely sure about that last part because on mine it was just preset. Other than that you can set the chorus/vibrato how you like in addition, or turn the depth all the way off. It's a very smooth trem though, essentially just the volume going up and down, no waveform control I think but haven't really explored that thoroughly.

Hmm, it’s more than I want to do / mess with, but I suppose you could feed in CV to ramp that.
