Sector hasn't been updated in nine thousand six hundred fifty three years though, so it's a hard recommend for me. There's a lot of apps I don't recommend because they have no support. Hell until recently Borderlands and Samplr were on that list, but the devs woke up at the same time.
As for apeMatrix: aside from cool experimental feedback fun Aum completely and embarrassingly destroys apeMatrix on every side. From usability to expandability to CPU usage. That's why I don't recommend it as anything but a cool sound design tool. And I mean really, Aum owns the iOS music world; that became hella obvious by how many apps immediately updated to use multi-outs as soon as Aum started supporting the feature.

Oh I can very well hear you on that. Some apps are sooo nice in concept, but would only really be usable in context if they got X.
And if those got sleepy support... maybe keep an eye on them but don't hold your breath, and sometimes miracles happen like borderlands/sampler.
For Sector... what update would it really need though? Maybe I haven't been using it long/hard enough but.. seems fine?
Thanks for your input on ApeMatrix!
I'd now rather spend that money on the mutemaster you suggested, seems to really add something to the already splendid combo of AUM/AudioShare
A good demo of Continua, one of my favorite synths.

I just saw this, I GOOFED.
My only iOS device is of the giant variety. But I can recommend these two babies:
Koala Sample - super simple mpc style sampler, tap and record. Great to doodle with
Korg Gadget - I forgot this one is universal, and really it's all you need to make great music, even import into live 9 if you want!
To be honest I know a lot of the apps I recommended on my last post are compatible, but since I can't know for certain if they are good on a smaller screen I can't really recommend.

Korg Gadget is quite powerful & fun...
IMHO just not so much on a fiddly phone,
I do not know many apps that manage to pull off non-fiddly...
Spacecraft ,while an excellent app, straddles the border for me on an iPhone 6s
actually most stuff I tried on the phone that was fun to jam/play around with, made me wish for an iPad if I wanted to develop things further
but maybe your eyes are younger, screen bigger, fingers more precise
I did like, even on phone:
Auxy
Triq Traq
but they both keep changing how free/subscribe/whatnot they are, so you'd have to see for yourself.
AudioKit Synth One has probably been mentioned?
And a venerable classic, that is still valid and even getting the occasional update:
The iOS scene has been all about distortion this week, with Fabfilter porting their Saturn2 over. I don't have any of their stuff due to price, but this one seems tasty.
