Rose is a good substitute for the meantime especially at that price.
So is the Timefactor (they are like $200 used now).
How do you use the timefactor for looping like that? I got a timefactor to loop more but got distracted by the multitap delay
There is a decay/feedback parameter, start/end points, sample length, pitch based on intervals (or cents too) and it can be set to "always listening" like the 16sec, never understood why would anyone want to have this feature however :whateva:

Limitation is delay time though, it can be stretched out to 48 and 24 seconds but sound quality gets "lo-fi" lol

Yeah I know my way around the time factor looper (except for the always listening parameter apparently?). I used to use the start and stop points on vocal loops alot for weird glitchy things.

I was more kinda asking how you "play" it to make it frippy. Do you just record silence then overdub it?

Yes exactly.

The "always listening" trick is just having it in record mode all the time and bringing up mix value when needed (expr/aux/midi/knob twist).

Only thing I really miss is undo feature, but for coronavirus jams it's excelente.

What specifically about the 16 sec Digital Delay floats your boat? So many loopers have overlap, but the little features seem to be what sets them apart. I never thought Frippertronics style stuff was hard to achieve as a basic idea of sound-on-sound looping without a defined loop length but with some alteration to the loop with each repetition. Adding pitch/speed changes and reverse makes things much more interesting. So I would suggest thinking about a DL4, Blooper, or El Capistan.

The fact that it's a delay where the repeats/"loop" is ever changing and stuff calmly drifts away instead of it being static, while at the same time allowing me to lock whatever is in the buffer at the time with a simple stomp. Also, the controls are easy and allow me to do whatever I want on the fly. You can probably do similar stuff on loads of devices, but the 16 sec and its derivatives seem to be made with what I want to do in mind, without any excess fluff or clutter. Like, if I need to fasten a screw, I'd rather get a screwdriver than a swiss army knife, if that makes sense.

If you don't want to fake it with a pedal that's easily available, maybe keep your eyes peeled for one of those Maneco loopers? (also comes in euro for the Euro beings)
good deals are here.

4MS Dual Looping Delay? Wait, no, that has some similarities to the PCM42 I think.

What you describe here is definitely Maneco 16 second delay.

Totally makes sense to me. That is why I asked about what features specifically you liked about the EHX 16 Sec. Really sounds like you talked yourself into that one. Interface is pretty crucial to making a looper work for your goals, IMO. I am unfamiliar with the differences between the RI and the vintage ones. Maneco seem hard to find too. If you were looking for modern alternatives and are open to having different UI then the Blooper would fit what you want, with the ability to lock in repeats from fading or controlling how fast the layers disappear along with the reverse and speed changes. Obviously does much more, which you could ignore or tinker with if desired, but fits into that swiss army knife comparison. Completely not a pedal orientated pedal though, so you either need to use your hands or program a MIDI controller.

Now y'all talked about the Maneco Sweet 16 I did some research and it jumped up in the top 5 things I want.
Also, if someone is looking for one in the EU, Joe's pedals apparently a has one is stock.

Yeah, seems somewhat available on Reverb as well.

@ctc The Blooper would probably fit the bill, I'm just not a fan of the CBA layout. As you say, I'd have to get a midi controller, and suddenly the combined price would be close to 2 Manecos.

Anyway, Kent is looking into whether he can cook something up for me as well now. :!!!: We'll see, I'm not in a rush.

Only issue with 16 sec. delay is it's not hifi.
Nor is the Expedition 60 second delay.

Our unit will be hifi. Just not soon <g>.
