A RAT...? Really? Which model?
I find the Rat too "80's hair metal" sounding for rock of the stoner variety, imo.
It has too much edge and not enough deep... too much Nirvana and not enough Melvins.

The more experimental psychedelic noise side of stoner/doom I guess you could say for me. But Orange AD30 with 4x12 combo. Jazzmaster tuned to drop D, use a POG to get the Drop A on stage, but have another JM tuned to A for in studio stuff. Devi Cherry Pop is the main fuzz for riffage. And Shoe Gazer for the uber low snarly drones. Boris, Electric Wizard, and Ufomammut are prob my favorite stoner tones, so yeah.

The RAT 2. I just turn the tone control up. Mine gets pretty fizzy, too.

Funny you mention the Melvins, Buzz used a Rat for years. You need an old 80s rat though.

I use a SG into DAM meathead clone or a GGG tuned muff into a clean Laney LC30II for guitar riffing. For bass it's Precision Special tuned to C with the GGG tuned muff, a SHO clone and VTBass, juts finished a blender so my set up is gonna change again soon.

Yamaha SG 2000 > Colorsound Wah > (Usually Some Kind of boost) > Laney Protube 100 > 4x12

I have too many fuzzes, but a booster into a cranked amp is generally enough and far more versatile. Lately its been a Creepy Fingers Doomidrive, I also enjoy my Meathead clone, because it can be sent into a fully distorted amp without futzing out, it just gets even crazier. I'm not really one for any other special effects, though I occasionally GAS for a phaser or a tremelo.
I do have an old Roland tape echo, that's pretty fun for layering up stuff, but generally I just straight ahead riff. :D

Nice man, seems we have very similar boards, except you have the real things!

I also have a few fuzzes that I swap in and out so every show there's usually a different one.

ahah yeah. I think we're on the same page!

to be honest if I was gigging regularly I'd probably replace the wah and tape echo with your stuff. old gear is old.

My thought as well, plus they're cheaper :D

I dig the Yamaha too, if I wasn't left handed I'd pick one up in an instant.
