Yeah the spectre is very cool indeed but I couldn't really justify keeping it. While I like that complicated stuff on occasion what I really want is a flanger that just sounds pretty ok. Which it does, but my brain hates seeing this complicated thing not getting used "to its potential"

What band was it that said they wanted to do for flangers what Interpol did for suits?

I’ve never been a flange user or abuser but I love me some oversaturated dripping wet effects and the EQD Pyramids was really nice when I got to plug into one and put it through some paces.

ive actually been pondering the Carl Martin Flange recently but have a hesitancy to pull the trigger. typically flanger is not my thing whatsoever

I bought the Dreadbox Komorebi after watching The Pedal Show video and it turned up this morning
A quick play makes me think I'm going to like it a lot.

Yeah, that's the one I was most interested in.
Any flanger that'll self-oscillate is on the list though.

Maybe you want some ring modulation with your flanging?

Tried a buncha fancy flangers that were covered with controls and switches...
Turned out I was just after basic thick chewy flange sounds without all the unmusical trippy sci-fi noises, and nothing could beat my old Boss BF-2 at that

can anyone comment on major differences between BF2 & BF3?

I've never directly compared the standard mode on the BF3 with the BF2, but it's a good standard mode. Someone here mentioned preferring the BF3's standard mode over the BF2, but I can't remember who. It's a very clean flange which makes it good on broadband sources like synths. The ultra mode is really thick, I like it a lot more than I thought I would. The gate mode is interesting I guess but not something I would use often, but I haven't had a chance to try that mode in stereo to get the panning flange; I've heard it's really cool. Momentary mode is fun for placing weird little accents while you're playing--it always starts the LFO at the same place, which you may or may not like. I don't really use flange on bass but I tested the bass input and it does a great job of keeping low bass frequencies unaffected. Because it's so clean and broadband, it can get really harsh when you crank up the resonance--with flangers I only crank the resonance when I specifically want an obnoxious sound so that works for me, but it's worth mentioning if you're not an annoying asshole like me.
I still prefer my Moog Flange but if I were gigging I would use the BF-3 on my board.

yeah I agree with all of this, I think the "standard" mode is supposed to cover the BF-2 with extra range on every parameter.
