I use the Velcro straps to keep them together. I keep the wrapped cables is a large case which doubles as an ottoman. I use foam dividers to keep the cables organized by type.
The small patch cables and power cables go in a small pelican case. Spaghetti is inevitable

I also use those Velcro straps.
I have stuff in random bags too. It’s a nightmare.

For long cables, get a cheap bucket like the 5 gallon ones. Coil the cables nicely about the diameter of said bucket. You will have a tangle free stack of cables

K2000 wrote:I use one like this ("wall mount cable organizer") for short patch cables (one rack holds a lot and is enough for me) and cheap hooks for the longer ones. Sometimes not even hooks, but long screws, if it's not very many cables. Bike hooks are cheap and will hold a lot of long cables.
Mine was like 15-20 bucks on Amazon, they are widely available.

I bought this! it's great but I've already run out of space. Found a small screwdriver holder that I used for my 1/8" cables. Def. need to get the velcro for the longer cables just to keep things neater.

I only put short cables on the rack, like 3 ft and under. I don't coil them. It holds like 50 cables that way, more than enough space for me.
I put longer cables in coils and hang them on hooks. I don't have a ton of cables, but if I did, I would organize the long ones so all the same type were on their own hook.

If I wanted to allocate more space to a 'studio' the first thing I would get is peg board for wires.
But for now they're fine underneath the pants, underneath the mixer, underneath the underwear I sharted in, in the closet, the door can't even fucking close cause so much shit is in it.
Yeah... pegboard would make a lot of sense

I might hit up the Home Depot on my time off and buy some stuff for a pegboard - I found this thingy that would be prefect for storing patch cables etc..... and I have a whole other box of hooks to hang coiled cables? Might be fun?
EDIT: wow my workshop is disgusting. Maybe I'll go clean it? My father is coming over to use my table saw today.....

I would up using the cable holder from amazon, and picked up the velcro cable ties at the local Home Depot ($5 for 25 in a roll).

I took the ILF cable storage challenge while my wife binge watches Queer Eye upstairs.....
45 minutes of work and about $12 for the pegboard at home depot.
