This is... Somewhat familiar. I've managed to mostly cure myself of the impulse to put on music I like at parties because it's always this story

However, my inner music snob compels me to point out that there hasn't been a legitimately great stoner rock band that has started within the last 10-15 years.

That's because weed's more potent than it used to be.
