Yeah. PF is a tremendous pedal. But it had become more of a crutch than a tool for me. There’s a lot to explore there, for sure.

I got a Zoia. After a couple days messing around with it as an effects processor, here are my impressions:
It sounds pretty good.
It's kind of limited in terms of CPU if you want to do complicated delay stuff.
The granular module isn't quite good enough for me to get rid of my Pladask stuff.
Editing on the device is much more intuitive and user-friendly than one might expect.
The Boss 500 series might still win.

There are so many great, smart patches on Patch Storage that you can essentially grab something and tweak it to your own preferences.
I'm super impressed and I imagine it will keep evolving at light speed since they've already had two firmware updates to accommodate user suggestions on their forum.

It certainly makes my road rig much smaller. I'll be bringing it to ILFEU on a small board if you haven't checked one out yet.

I bought one and worked with it for a bit and I really didn't enjoy the workflow or lack of info about how to build basic concepts like a tap tempo to control a function. Their documentation lists that things can be used to make things but there is no explanation of how to assemble a controller like that so I ended up spending an hour or so trying different things before finally stringing 3 different things together to make a tap tempo controller. The learning curve would be a lot less steep if they had some simple controllers as modules you could drop in rather than having to build and patch something that would be routinely useful. I also thought the Zoia would open up a lot of possibilities for cool stuff but I really just missed playing guitar rather than sitting and trying to patch things together to make stuff like I already have ready to go. I agree that a computer editor would make a world of difference but I flipped mine away after not enjoying the 8 or so hours I spent with it.

I really want to like it, but the single knob just makes me think of those nightmare-inducing synths from the 80s

If only I could find one to play I might be onboard...but it’s hard for me to wrap my head around what it’s doing through youtube

I kinda feel the same way, except there's not much of an option. Otherwise you're in modular territory, which is a pit of despair. I came to accept that any reasonably sized and priced solution to my issues would be 1) digital, 2) have to utilize an unorthodox (for pedals) interface, and 3) would require knowledge of synthesis. It doesn't seem possible that a pedal could exist that can do the stuff the Zoia can without fulfilling each of those requirements.

And the menu diving is less annoying than you would expect - basically, you're choosing your module and its features. Think 'RPG selection screen,' not 'where is that file buried in my C: drive.'

I haven't tried one out, but I'm not tempted to at all. Mainly because it just looks like a refined version of the Organelle, which I owned for awhile and ended up not really digging. Organelle was option paralysis, this looks like more option paralysis. I'm learning that I'm far more interested in gear with limits

Also, I really dislike the fact that it has foot switches on it. That might be a personal preference, but I couldn't see myself putting it on a pedalboard. I'd rather have more of the grid buttons and some way to connect a foot switch expansion.

My issue with the footswitches is you had to enter a separate mode for them to work on a patch and then exit that mode to move to a new patch. That's the kind of hassle and never want to deal with.

Wow, they make even less sense to me now

If it wasn't for the foot switches it would be useless to me but that said it can be a PITA but I still love it.
