It Is not hard to make a pedal that switches between two effects-paths passively, I'm sure if you check out some loop-builders they have one. You can also "negate" the buffer using a transformer as such, I suspect you can do without the transformer though and just use a 100k resistor to ground like seymour duncan does in the tweak fuzz. I like buffers (and boost!) before fuzz though as I run them at full blast always. The LS-2 is a great tool though so even if you dont like it you probably can find some other use for it.

Why not just get a 2 channel looper, as has been suggested? It seems like exactly what you need, and cheaper and easier than trying to accomplish it with some combination of a/b boxes. Unless I’m misunderstanding something.

nah you're not. i've just never tried to do something like this before and i thought splitting the chains then adding a switcher was the best way to do it. I have always just mixed + matched boxes on one signal path.

One Control 2-channel fx loop pedal. In white $75 new. No buffers. Allows daisy chaining. Will allow me to go Loop A (OD)/Loop B (Fuzz)/Bypass (clean)
Put a boss TU-3w in front of it with the buffer switched off
As long as I can balance the output vol of each chain i am good. Shouldn't be a problem.

Every time I have tried a buffer in front of a vintage fuzz circuit (specifically recall putting a buffer in front of a ghost tb mki i had just received) it has sounded like complete and utter ass. Never again!

That looks like the best solution in your case. Also check out the gigrig quarter switcher, it does the same thing but has more loops.

yeah i use creepy fingers rangemaster into fuzz a lot, so much tone shaping flexibility and endless sustain (i use weak ass p90s and it's perfect). boost into fuzz is really my main thing. i dont even mess with modulation etc anymore.
i had made a different thread about what booster i could get to compliment the rangemaster, basically for the same purpose of this thread, which is to have 2 separate chains and a separate boost on each chain. honestly i am tempted to just get another rangemaster, because i had a david main hornsby skewes treblebooster but i didnt like it with other pedals nearly as much as i did when i put the rangemaster in front of fuzzes. i tend to lean towards silicon fuzz so maybe it was something about the combo of germanium boost into silicon fuzz. or maybe creepy fingers just makes a badass motherfukin rangemaster

thanks for the recommendation on the quartermaster, i will probably get that instead because i have enough fuzzes to set up 2 separate fuzz chains instead of just 1, then the od chain

Oh yeah I feel you. I as well am in the "I should just get more variants of the pedals I already like" hole, though I wanna get into boosters and such but I gotta get a proper amp first. Boosting my soundcard into distortion seems like it may not be a good idea... Have you thought of just getting like an LPB-1 or Super Hard-on? They make a double SHO with a master volume so you can get some cool overdrive. A booster I have been checking out is the BTMB quad-booster, it is 4 boosters you select with a rotary knob and a bax.

I keep looking at your avatar tho and what you need is a colorsound booster. Tone is in the orange-ness....

Do creepy fingers make that still btw? I have been wanting to get a good rangemaster to hit my muff with (if things go well ac30)

is super hard on a mosfet?
never used one i should try it one of these days
same with the colorsound power boost i will pick one up if i come across one at a decent price
seems like they are 3 silicon circuits
i dont build pedals, or really understand much about the components tbh

transistor is a raytheon something or other, plugging the part # into google returned nada

tonebooster mki and fuzzface are my favorite circuits... i think i already found the best germanium fuzzface on earth
i need to get a new ghost mki but i am waiting for one with volume/gain/attack and a bias or rolloff on the side, so i will probably be waiting a while
was really tempted to make an offer on gunner's sounds of today mki in BST but someone snatched it up right away
Ian has a 2065 that he is making now, some of them have 3 knobs and a bias on the side
guess i will just hang out on reverb and in the forums and wait for one
like i said i love the mki but i need one with flexibility

edit - just looked at a gutshot of the 10th sugar boost and it had the exact same transistor so i guess they all have it

Yeah the super hard on mosfet. There are quite a few nice clones of the power boost actually and there is one (Thorbak i think) that lets you switch from silicon to germanium and get a different sound
