The Elements really does have the ability to do a lot with a really well thought out palette.

Boss blues driver. Sounds better unmodded and gets pretty filthy for Sonic youth stuff which I also use that and the mooer rat in turbo mode for those sounds.

Thanks bb

The DOD boneshaker seems like a decent option and $40-$50 used. Any negatives about it?

The LED is bright as fuck and sometimes the EQ can be hard to dial in.

That's it though

Cool, I might be able to fix the rat clone, but if the parts look to be over $20 I might just jump to the used bone crusher... looks like there are a few at some local shops from a quick search

Not so much a "negative", just depends on what you're expecting...
But I flipped mine pretty quick cause I wrongly assumed it'd be able to do the same gain/dirt levels as the Dr Scientist The Elements.

If that's cool with you, it's just a solid overdrive with a good eq, sick bang for the buck, just like the rest of that line of dod dirt peds.
I've had the Gunslinger on my board for a while now, not feeling any urge to flip it.

What gain/dirt level does the DOD do or is limited to?

It's definitely an overdrive. It doesn't really get into fuzz or distortion territory on it's own but I bet it could goose something else into fuzziness

I think that’s what I could use. I have the sparkledrive to boost for more. Would that be pre or post, guessing pre bone crusher?

More than likely. I think the other way around would just make it louder, not more distorted. You'd just have to mess around with it though.

I'm pretty sure Ira from YLT's distortion sound has been a rat run into another rat since forever.

Pulled mine out to see if I wanted to get rid of it, cause it wasn't getting used...then I found 1 setting out of the entire range that I actually like. It sounds like nothing else I currently have, and feel as though I have to keep it now  haha (Gain at minimum, lows at 3, highs at 1-2 o'clock)

Mine's got a couple different sweet spots, a different one for each of my guitars/amp combinations. Less highs for the bright jazzmaster than the dark gibbo, and less gain for the gibson's high output P90's.

It's just one of those usefull bread and butter type overdrives that don't suck at either low nor high gain settings. Nothing spectacular either, but it wouldn't fetch me enough money to tempt me to flip it.
