deathbomb arc is my favorite label, and they have a bunch of cassette releases. cassettes are def getting big for diy'ers and noise music. i like cassettes a lot. my bands first release was a yellow cassette with red print. one of my favorite releases of 2008 was the graphitti island/pens/male bonding cassette split. cassettes are the future of retro. they are fun because they are a physical object you have to interact with in the same way that vinyl is fun (i estimate very few people buying vinyl these days are actual audiophiles, and the rest are into it for the retro apeal, the fun packaging, and the physical interaction). cds/mp3s have very little physical interaction, in my opinion.
there are bands doing releases on 1.44MB floppy disks too. there is enough space for one mp3 around a minute long. I released a set of four 1.44MB floppies, each one a noise remix of a destiny's child single.

IDK. i was trying to think of a cassette-only label. those are becoming rarer. i think Deathbomb Arc puts out CD-Rs and vinyl as well.

I heard Beck is recording a version of Sonic Youth's Sister album and it will only be released on cassette. Nostalgia wise, it's a pretty slick idea.

they do, and regular CDs too. but i think at least a third of their catalog is cassettes.

i just thinking about how like even a couple of years ago there used to be TAPE ONLY labels, as well as CD-R ONLY labels: i think it is these DIY & experimental labels that have made it "cool" for "indie" labels to put out tapes this year.

IDEA: A few of us pitch in and make an ILF Mixtape of our own songs?
