Our recording process isn’t exactly hi-fi but our noisecore Christmas album we just released has a whole bunch of the Milk Box all over it.

Btw, bought a used Accountant off Reverb. Thanks for pointing it out, Chank! We shall see.
If I can stay happy with a mini pedal I’ll be stoked.
I can’t stand mini-pedals in general - my feet are too big - but for an always-on thing it would be rad

Small board idea: Randy’s Revenge, Accountant, Unpleasant Surprise. I could fuck with that easy.

Compression can fuck with some fuzzes big time, so that set up is debatable.

Oh, if The Accountant stays, it will be on a board with RR for sure.
I had an Unpleasant Surprise years ago - maybe I should try one again.

My compressor sounded better after the Randy's Revenge FWIW.
I still say get one with clean blend but you'll get there <g>.

The other compressor I’ve been using has a clean blend. We shall see!

I’ve been wanting one for a while now and one popped up yesterday on Reverb for a fair price so I’m hoping it arrives next week.
I can’t see myself putting an accountant on my list right. Ow but maybe later in the year -I could easily rock a board with just those three for what I want to do.... along with an HM-2 and a DOD Death Metal that could be the perfect small board.

Oh - Zounds Perspex- I’d love to hear some of your music if you have any links!
I’m thinking I might start putting out feelers for an avant garde kind of band a la Smegma / Music Improvisation Company this year and make some non noisecore group recordings.

What you're describing I'd reach for EQ first honestly.

All the recordings I have of this stuff are sort of terrible quality - phone recordings.
Supposed to spend a day at a friend’s studio next month and get some things down!
And I’m not really trying to start any kind of group, but collaborations are in the works for this year for sure.

I also use a Black Fingers on my bass board and it can definitely get some more out there sounds. I tend to crank the pre/post gain on it, which gives me massive sounds!
I've ignored compressors for the most part but seeing that BF on your board the other day had me interested.
I actually got it on a whim in a trade awhile ago and now I can't imagine my bass board without it. Gives my bass so much more punch and a much more consistent sound. Definitely not transparent or low noise though. It brings its own character
See, that sounds useful to me for sure. I admittedly don't have the most consistent pick/finger attack

My answer to almost any compressor question is usually the Cali76-CD. Yeah it's expensive, but it really does the job in an awful lot of situations.
The Keeley GC-2 is also good when used as a post dirt limiter.

Necro blamping this because I just got a Strymon OB.1 in a trade and I'm super happy with it. I'm sock today so I've spent my morning plugging it into various fuzzes and in combination with the boost (which I admittedly didn't have high hopes for) it certainly makes almost everything more usable.
It even plays well with my Ape Blaster, which is super impressive because that thing is picky as fuck.
All my Fuzz is Fuzzstortion now.
