Laney IRT Pulse. Headphone and USB out. I’m loving mine for late night silent jams and super easy direct recording

The peavey mini head line has headphone and mic out and a bunch of other stuff, including built in attenuation. pretty solid choice for the coin.

I have an orange 35rt just for this, decent headphones, handles pedals wel and it’ll do bass (kinda clubby but whatev)...and the analog gain stages are decent and speaker although 10” is decent as well...well worth the $$

Relative to my interests...

So...The direct sound doesn't suck? Those small devices for direct recording and silent noodling almost seem too good to be true, I've had a couple too many meh experiences with pod-type stuff and digital preamps, so I'm reluctant to look into any of the new offerings...
So sorta tones are you getting from the IRT, what style/genre are we talking here...jazz, brootz, blooz,...? :idk:

Well it’s got 2 tubes in it so it takes pedals like pushing the input of an actual amp and clips the same way. And is this TGP? Haha no jazz or blues. Only insane fuzz and doom but the natural overdrive of it also sounds good. I’ve been using it for bass but after hearing a demo I sent him the dude who runs the page @itdooms who’s a Sabbath/Sleep obsessive bought one and is also really liking it for achieving those tones

Cheers. Than I guess I can't NOT try it. Hard to pass up on for that price. I'm not technically knowledgeable enough myself, but I was always told that preamp tubes in cheap small pedals and pre's are useally more of a marketing gimmicks rather than a way to make a small device act like a full blown tube amp. No idea if that's true. But hey, if it sounds good, it sounds good, don't care if it's due to the pedals or to fairy dust. Thanks for the tip.

Does the clean sound great?

I'm not much of a clean player but using it as a headphone amp it seems to sound pretty good clean. Very clear note definition and a full sound even on bass. Hitting low notes aggressively you still get a little bit of tube clipping even with the gain set extremely low. With a boost pedal in front of it you definitely feel like you're listening to a tube amp cranked through the headphones. It's like a secret late night lover of mine now. I sit up blowing out my eardrums while everyone else sleeps peacefully.
