I liked that Lo/Rez Mona Lisa Overdrive that Chankgeez has.

Lightning Wave Ghost! It can be used as a slow gear swell too! I love that thing (thanks Lee!).
Mona Lisa Overdrive's a good alterna-trem. Not versatile at all, but definitely full of character.

Definitely wanna try a Ghost eventually.

my all-time favorite.
When I had one of these, I used it more for trem than ring mod. :duck:

I also wanna try an Abracadabra Ayahuasca, but I'm not about to pay over $500 for one. :idk:

yeah, I'm on my third MF-102.. never really used it for ring mod sounds save a few random times. always used it as a tremolo pedal.

the first model I had was the signature/Briar version, and it either was different internally or was not working correctly, as it had this issue where it would sputter out (even if the drive was matched to input signal), which made for a really cool, lo-fi sound. at the time I hated it, but the two MF-102s I've had since no longer have that issue, and I miss it.

I had a Big Briar too. Mine never did that. Sounds like yours was faulty, but neat.

You ducks are making me want a tremolo again. My favorite is the Mr Black Deluxe Plus. I almost always want some spring reverb with my tremolo, so it's a perfect combo, and both sound nice enough by themself.
I also loved the Twin Peaks, but ultimately decided I didn't use it enough to justify what I could sell it for. :(

Ring mods are the best trems.

But the Carl Martin Surf Trem is also a sweet and cheap trem.

I don’t really do standalone favorites, so these would be my 1A thru 1G.

Empress Tremolo2 - greatest range while remaining intuitive
Vox VibraVox - dual channel with great sounds
Randy’s Revenge - cloudy daydream
Moog MF-102 - liquid buttah
EQD Night Wire - such a nice sound, lovely pulsing modulation
Chase Bliss Gravitas - the ramping options are great, really rich textures
Hologram Dream Sequence - one of my favorite rhythmic devices, fluid motion & sharp chop

Something's gone wrong with my Red Witch Eve tremolo and I'm too broke to be able to replace it with anything. As a guitarist who as a teenager fell in love with How Soon Is Now then ten years later with Born On The Bayou and other swampy country I might just play acoustic until I can afford a new tremolo pedal...

Highly intrigued by the Mid-Fi one, anything with a name from Norse mythology is an instant hit with me! Such a shame I can't find a UK/EU dealer for them to save myself enormous shipping and import fees...

I think Doug generally uses components that aren't allowed in the EU. You'll have to smuggle one in. :surprise: :snax:

I had a tutor at uni who ran into the same problem when he was ordering a custom amp from the US - he managed to convince the maker of the extremely expensive and bulky ultra-hi-spec Twin Reverb clone to declare it as a gift so it didn't get too closely pored over in customs...

I would also like to take that Ultrem for a spin, though the Moog MF Trem continues to be my favorite option and likely covers similar ground (minus presets and many of the waveform intricacies). A Mooer Trelicopter also sees action every now and then when pedalboard space is limited.

Anything with expression input or envelope to control rate will work for me.

Currently for “traditional” trem I’m rolling a minifooger trem I got in a trade - I haven’t really explored it as much as I should.

I’m a big fan of the Gristleizer which has some really grimey trem sounds, although I use it more like a dirty filter for my bass.

I am a HUGE ring modulator fan and have a Moogerfooger Ring, a Randy’s Revenge - both have really nice tremolo sounds but I rarely use them for trem, always for dirty ringmodulator space noises.

I like my tremolo weird so I like anything with a random waveform.
I've been messing around with the assign functions on the MD500 to get envelope-sensitive speed with slicer rhythms. That's been great for making staticy blips.
The sequenced stuff you can get with an Alexander Colour Theory is a lot of fun.
My old standby is a MusicPCB Tap Tempo Tremolo. It sounds good and you can get all the features you need, if you don't need stereo or MIDI.

I love the Dr Sci Tremolessence. Super choppy stutter to super smoov, expression pedal port, Volume and Treble controls...
