I've been loving this album lately. Never listened to earlier Daughters, though. Any suggestions for earlier stuff to listen to?

Hell Songs and the self titled are both worth a listen. Hell Songs is super abrasive and noisy and the self titled is full of bangers

I’d start with Canada Songs.
It shows how they have.. errr “evolved” may be the wrong word. How they have worked on music. There is a good interview with Sadler and also with the band about their “sound.”
Nurse would you please prep the patient is dope.
Hell songs shows Alexis’ kind of vocal change. Some people didn’t like it, I loved it. I love how much nuance and panic/dread he can convey and it is such a crucial part of the music. If you just listen to the music and wonder “how could you make ‘vocals’ to this,” Alexis does a great job. He knows how to listen and feel to produce.

I almost feel like the new album is closer to Hell Songs than the s/t. The self titled is a bit more straightforward (by comparison) and has more "rock" songs on it.
Basically, Google these 3 songs:

Whichever song you like best, start with that album

I gave it another shot, drunk and alone on n.y.e. and then felt like 'damn, wasn't that bad of a year that I should be capping it off with this' and moved on to some nondescript techno instead.
But I will give it additional chances to woo me. Probably my Canada Songs + EP cassette will get played more, tho.

I took a page out of your book last year and listened to a ton of JESUS LIZARD at one point. And as you can see, I'm cranking out DAUGHTERS all the time anymore.
I still like this one a lot. It's in my car right now and I'm not swapping it out yet.
