It's an aesthetic; makeshift mummy. Vinyl electrical tape, blue painters tape, grey duct tape, white cloth medical tape and on. They can all look cool but make a mess with the adhesive once aged so best consider it permanent mod for keepers.

Furthermore: stickers on pedals. COOL so long as the enclosures aren't art-tier Sonic Crayon type finishes and the stickers add a net positive and adhere to the philosophy of good memes or at the very least, good meme'n

I dunno, I feel okay with tipping my hat to the "I'LL CARRY MY GEAR SECRETS TO THE GRAVE!" crowd, plenty of ways to skin a cat.

Maybe I should start carrying rolls of electrical tape in the storefront to facilitate their journey.

I started w some tape to mark settings, but it expanded to stickers that cover all my pedals and make them look a bit more uniform. But im bald and wear a hat.

Tape is chill. I put Gudetama and Totoro stickers on my MIJ PS-2 and BF-2, as well as my PM-7 and Digiverb, because I know I won't sell them. Evan/skullservant has the best stickered pedals tho and I credit him as sticker-spiration.

i've taped over pedals with really ugly graphics. i totally get the not-wanting-to-advertise thing, too (i never wear clothes with obvious labels, or shirts with printing on them - other than my friends' projects).

most of all, i find it ridiculous that anyone would care either way!

Start selling pedals with a $5 factory taped price.

Or make tape with your logo on it.

Pretty indifferent to the aesthetic but I can appreciate it as an aesthetic or not wanting to give free promotion etc.

i understand why, e.g. the gybe! folks tape their pedals as part of their non-commercialist stance (though they are actually selling t-shirts, posters, and apparently even coffee mugs at shows nowadays)...i had a friend who was so anti-capitalist that he blacked out logos on clothing with a black marker and cut the swooshes off his Nikes. but i think taping over your pedals to "keep secrets" is lame as fuck. it's not as though people with color perception and good ears can't figure it out anyhow.

You remember stuff in memories of the past, but life moves on by the means of time into the future, in case someone was wondering.
