Neither should matter since it's detecting tempo, not rhythm.
But we don't know what exactly its listening for. Is it just snare transients? If so, then it is dependent on meter. Lets say you record a loop in 4/4, and your drummer is playing in 3/4, both at the same tempo. The drummer will hit their 1 on the looper's 4. Will this looper hear the drummer's 1, and restart the loop at a much faster tempo to fit it into the drummer's 3/4 measure?

Its tempting to think that the looper does all the work for you but its almost assuredly just adjusting for slight swing in time. It doesn't know what the contents of your loop are and whether to start on some segment of the loop because the drums change. It just hears the dominant tempo in the room. It might do something bonkers if you suddenly go to halftime on the reference instrument but my guess is its designed to only vary a little bit so it reacts predictably. If it can be 'broken' by a super generic musical trope then that would be a dramatic oversight.
If you're doing mathy loop stuff and playing 3 against 4 or anything like that you would still have to manage your looping in a way that works, as with any looper.

Curious to see if it can be made to glitch/freak out with throwing faster tempo changes at it.
It would have been nice if they had a DL-4 type footswitch layout.

Just layering endless tracks, getting louder and louder, until the original progression is just buried under the noise of the delay pedal (repeats set a touch too high) he is using earlier in the chain. Meanwhile everyone there is just trying to have a conversation but they are forced to lean into each others ears to ask if they wanna go outside to smoke. A member from the band scheduled to play third asks their bandmate "Are we on after this guy?" The bandmate sighs and answers "nah we're playing third."
This is just about the friggin’ best thing I read all day

Also been pining for a MIDI clickable ditto looper. This isn’t quite the right thing. Really interesting idea, though. There’s a video where Tore talks about it reading snare transients, and says it can get confused with complex rhythms.

Invisible Man wrote:This thing seems like such a great idea, but it really only reads the sharp transient from snare drums. So any syncopation, loud ghost notes, or complex rhythms will throw it off. That could be cool, but it's really geared toward music with strong, consistent backbeats.

It can pick up a strum pattern while recording and also pickup a drum pattern. Mix and mash and presto. Someone's gotta try it!

Feeding some Polvo - Title Track and MF DOOM+MF GRIMM - Tick Tick through such a device has potential for great entertainment

I'm so sick of pedals that don't read my mind! But I guess the danger is
that a pedal designed to read my mind will be hackable by the "audience"
so that they will take over and control it with
their minds.
All music will be like the comments section on YouTube.

I’m beginning to think this isn’t going to happen. Let me illustrate from a beginning guitarist perspective:
Ditto: a looper that has understandable features
MIDI: a complex, matrix-like computer language that wizards somehow use to make music
So, if you’re trying to sell to an audience that you perceive to have those opinions, why would you ever combine the two?
(I really wish they would make a Ditto with midi, it’s the only thing I need to complete my pedalboard)

Ditto X4s have MIDI. It was pretty limited initially, but it has gotten better with firmware updates.
