The first Billy Cardigan thing I saw I was like “oh ha ha I understand the reference a black guitar” and then I guess that’s like the whole thing? It’s like when I go see my friend Tom and we reminisce about old times and our wives are like “fuck dude this story again oh ha ha you got drunk at 14 that’s nice honey”

Wrong. Billy uses many different colors of guitars and colors of pedals. Do your research! He also doesn't use a black guitar, but a black amp.
