Throat Locust in LED mode is pretty tight and definitely has plenty of lows. Elements would be a great choice as well. DOD Gunslinger is good but it does have a more glassy character, and I use it more for Post-punk/emo mids-treble heavy tones.

Does the Throat Locust has enough mids not to sound too metal?
I had the Elements... awesome pedal, bit doesn't work well with my amp.

Gyrator based EQ with mid frequency adjustment. crank that mids knob and use the frequency to find where you cut threw.

Get a Mesa Triple Rectifier.. 2nd Chan Vintage setting... crank the mids up, run the tube rectifiers... It's huge .. but we all knew that.
Oh wait.. pedal
Where do we stand on stuff like the "Acapulco Gold" ? I wasn't super impressed with its overall tone .. but goosing 20 watts of tubes .. it sounds pretty beef

I wasn't super impressed with its tone, either, when I tried it. I loved the saggy feel though-just wished it was less bassy and could do higher gain

Sounds like a good candidate for a 2/3/4-knob DIY clone ne

I loved my Acapulco Gold, but I built a Sunny T clone and thought it sounded better.
