They're like $1500 - $2000 though. Not that I could repair a 707 but I think the maintenance behind the Metasonix stuff is not the most intuitive. Super niche circuitry around unconventional applications of tubes.

I've thought about getting a Trogotronic Tube distortion and running my drum machines through it to see if it could come close to emulating that sort of sound.

So many good suggestions, but for some reason I'm not finding any of them super inspiring. I wish the Rhythm Wolf didn't sound like butt, because that's kinda the vibe I'm looking for. That Drumatix box looks amazing...but also $700. I guess I'm just a picky jerk.

I believe jwar has
I actually haven't yet, though I've dreamed of owning one for many years. I swear someone else here used to have one? I can't remember who. Those prices were out of my league at the time I was really into it.

I'd love to get a good drum machine. I have a soft spot for the old Korg ones. They are just fun, but it would be great to get a newer updated version.

A TWIST PERHAPS?????

This thread is the precursor to Peter creating a drum machine to his liking. A new paradigm begins with the drum machine known as GRAPEbeatNüCORE

For $700, if I could do it again (and if I had skills), I would go the DIY Euro Drum module route. I'm sure you can make something awesome!!!

Yes, my friend has one. It's ridiculous on bass guitar! the gnarliest envelope fuzz I've ever heard, with a touch of formant-y filtering to add a touch of fun to the mayhem. It's great! Not sure i'd pay that price though. Plus you need 4 tap tempo type switch thingers to be able to bypass each section. It's also noisy as hell with no input in typical metasonix style. Real fun to be had playing a D-1000 drum machine through it and cving back and forth.

Yes! Another friend has one of these. Really unique sounding thing, but really is a one trick pony, so you better like the trick if you're gonna fork out the cash. It really gets crazy with extra fx pedals on the individual outs:

This is with a snazzy wow & flutter on the bass making the drone, the moog ring mod on drum 2, and there's a star instruments synare out of shot. One of the drum channels was broken at the time

or sync'd to a drone synth:

Some people have had theirs modded to put the roll speed on the outer casing, and making the internal filter resonance controls come out to the front of the case.

Haha, that sounds like way too much work. I'm too lazy/busy to take on a drum machine. I just want someone else to make what I want. :p

The Metasonix D1000 is one of my dream synths.

They rarely come up for sale and when they do I never want to pay the > $1,000 they always go for.

Also, what about Mode Machines ADX 1? You need to bring your own sequencer to the party but that's easily enough done.
